And all the people gathered themselves together as one man into the street that was before the water gate; and they spake unto Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded to Israel, Nehemiah 8:1.
From July 1st through July 5th, the Black Creek Baptist Church will be having our annual Youth Week. For seven years now the Lord has been gracious enough to meet with us. The preaching is in no way oriented towards youth. They get the full throttle of King James Bible preaching, and yet year after year they come back. Some have even dragged their parents along.
Youth have never made up the majority of attendees. They are just our most loyal attendees. Each year, some of the same young people come from a few different states to camp (if they are young men) and to stay in the prophets chamber if they are young ladies. They sing, they weep, they listen, they play, and they pray. All year long they text my wife as to how many days are left until Youth Week.
What about the majority of those of us who attend? We listen to Spirit filled preaching. We fellowship. We learn. The moderatorship of the meeting is switched back and forth between Evangelist Cliff Taylor and Evangelist Timothy McVey on a year by year basis. This year Brother McVey will be the moderator.
Can I guarantee that the Spirit of God will be pleased to attend and to stir within our hearts as he has previously done these last seven years? No, I cannot. I can merely say that we honor the King James Bible, eschew the nonsense that has risen up these last few decades among our fundamentalist brethren, and try to remain sensitive to what the Holy Ghost is doing. So far, that has pleased him and there has been much good done in the souls of preachers, church goers and especially the youth.
